Teachers
Ka Rustler is a movement artist, educator, and somatic researcher who has explored and taught embodied practices internationally for over 35 years. An early member of Tanzfabrik Berlin, she helped establish spaces for experimental dance rooted in process, sensation, and interrelation. Certified in Body-Mind Centering®, Ka’s work integrates Contact Improvisation, Authentic Movement, and performance to cultivate a responsive, perceptive body in dialogue with its environment. A member of Cranky Bodies a/company and co-chair of the Glia Network, she bridges somatics, neuroscience, and the arts—creating feminist, process-based collaborations that engage body, ecology, and social transformation through embodied intelligence.
Andrew Wass has been exploring Contact Improvisation for over 20 years, teaching and performing across Europe, Asia, and the United States. His work has appeared in cities including Berlin, San Francisco, Tokyo, and New York. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Jess Curtis, Scott Wells, Nina Martin, and Nancy Stark Smith. A member of the performance collective Lower Left, Andrew holds an MA in Solo/Dance/Authorship from HZT Berlin and a PhD in Dance from Texas Woman’s University. His research bridges philosophy, cognitive science, and improvisation, examining how theory evolves through embodied practice and the interplay of movement and thought.
Rosalind Holgate Smith is a Dance Artist, Choreographer and Somatic Educator with a BA(hons) in Fine Art and Choreography, an MA in Dance and a PhD about touch in Contact Improvisation. Rosalind has over 15 years’ experience teaching Contact Improvisation and takes inspiration from her studies in Body-Mind CenteringⓇ, Authentic Movement, Skinner Release Technique, Martial Arts and her love for dancing outdoors. She specialises in creating performances and installations that explore intimate connections between people, place and the environment. Rosalind is also an experienced Yoga Instructor and following her passion for water, she teaches swimming with the Shaw Method, which integrates the Alexander technique.
Vega Luukkonen I am a Finnish dancer, teacher, performance artist and bodyworker. Holding a Master’s in Dance and Theatre Pedagogy from the Theatre Academy of Finland (2008), my true education came from 30 years within the Finnish Contact Improvisation community — learning through dancing, rolling and sharing. Contact Improvisation has been with me since my teens. I explore fine tuning, presence, and the principles beneath the form — breaking patterns, navigating the unknown, breathing into momentum, flight and fall. My teaching weaves somatics, experiential anatomy and improvisation, offering tools for ease, awareness and connection — within ourselves and with others.
Maria Rutanen (FI) is a dance artist, choreographer, and dance teacher. Her movement practice intertwines various techniques such as Contact Improvisation, instant composition, Body-Mind Centering, and release technique. She holds an MA in Choreography from the Inter-University Centre for Dance HZT Berlin. Maria approaches artistic work through ecosomatic and touch-based practices, where experiences of empathy, disorientation, liminality, and transformation become possible. As a long time CI practitioner, she is actively engaged in the community as a teacher, facilitator, jam organizer and above all as a dancer.
Katja Keya Richter, also known as Mosso Art, is a versatile artist, dancer, teacher, and healer. In her work, she merges creative expression with healing elements, creating a unique symbiosis of movement, culture, and energy work. As a choreographer and performer, she explores the depths of human emotion and opens up spaces for both personal and collective transformation. In her teaching, she offers not only dance techniques but also a deeper understanding of body awareness and energetic alignment. Katja’s healing presence and visionary strength inspire people to reconnect with their center and unfold their full potential.
Tanja Siebenstern discovered Contact Improvisation and ancient Indian philosophies in 2009, opening new dimensions in her dance journey. A year later, she trained in Aguahara with Alex Siebenstern in Buenos Aires and soon began integrating Contact Improvisation into water, co-organizing regular jams and labs in Berlin with Colin Edina. Since 2011, Tanja has co-taught and organized In Touch Festivals and Journeys. In 2012, she began teaching Water-Contact and, by 2013, became an Aguahara teacher and founder of Liquid Flow Projects. Her work invites presence, connection, and heart-centered flow as pathways to healing self and world.
Collin Edina is a massage-bodywork practitioner, and research developer of unique movement methodologies such as aquatic dance improvisations. His decades of practice with Contact Improvisations is an evergreen fascination that continues to this day.
Andrea Junge is a Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist, scientist, and educator dedicated to integrating movement, sound, and community-based healing. She plays woodwinds, keys, percussion, and voice—often through live looping—and collaborates internationally across dance, theatre, circus, and ritual. A recipient of multiple grants including Aktion Mensch and Kulturelle Bildung, Andrea has worked with marginalized communities in Tanzania, Nepal, the Amazon, and the Andes, using music to foster inclusion and communication. As project officer for Global Health Disrupted, she leads music and health workshops at institutions like Charité, blending mindfulness, Yoga Nidra, and somatic voice work into immersive, healing soundscapes.
Anir Leben is a musician, dancer, and improviser whose work unfolds at the intersection of sound, movement, and ritual. With many years of teaching Contact Improvisation, she brings a playful yet finely attuned sense of listening to bodies in motion. She has guided countless spaces through concerts, song circles, and dance rituals—inviting transformational resonance and the meeting of creativity, presence, and belonging. Beyond stage and studio, Anir works as a coach and water therapist, supporting others in surrender, embodiment, and creative unfolding. Her artistry is rooted in somatics, improvisation, and voice—honoring our shared, sacred aliveness.
